Science Matters - CRISPR Gene Editing

Introducing the AAAS Science Matters series. We are taking the latest scientific discoveries from the pages of Science and bringing them to our members in a live interactive format. This exciting new series will kick-off with a focus on CRISPR gene editing, which was featured in the August 31 special issue of Science entitled Technologies Transforming Biology. This event gives members an exclusive opportunity to engage in-person with the editors and writers of Science, as well as the researchers whose work they capture.

We are pleased to welcome you to come to a special seminar by our special guest, Rodolphe Barrangou, Ph.D., Todd R. Klaenhammer Distinguished Scholar in Probiotics Research and professor of food, bioprocessing and nutrition sciences at North Carolina State University. He has received numerous prestigious honors for his work on CRISPR systems including the 2017 Canada Gairdner International Award (“Canadian Nobel Prize”).

Please join us to learn more about how CRISPR is changing science, medicine, agriculture, and food industry from Dr. Barrangou. The introduction and discussion will be moderated by:

  • Valda Vinson, Ph.D., Editor, Research, Science

  • Jon Cohen, News Writer, Science

Space is limited. Please RSVP early. Registration closes on Friday, September 21, 2018.
